WHO WE ARE

An Ounce of Prevention is Better Than a Pound of Cure

Mindful Medicine was founded in April 2017 by Dr. Sangeeta Oza, MD, DipABLM to help patients manage their own health and reduce reliance on prescribed medications when possible.

After practicing as a family physician for over 30 years, Dr. Oza realized that traditional medicine, applied conventionally, did not always alleviate or control chronic illness. Doctors are generally trained to treat patients’ symptoms by prescribing medications to manage disease.  However, many patients continue to suffer without a substantial change in the underlying or root causes of their illness. She knew she had to make a change, and focus on how to promote health and wellbeing.

She identified with lifestyle medicine, which is evidence based medical care and a long-term solution leading to good health and disease prevention. Along with a team of allied health professionals, Dr. Oza focuses on the role that the five pillars of health - diet, exercise, stress, sleep and community play in maintaining wellness.

As a traditionally trained medical practitioner and a certified lifestyle medicine physician, Dr. Oza found that she had a unique ability to bridge the gap between traditional and alternative medicine. She uses this capacity to the benefit of her patients in order to empower them with the education, tools and support they need to make lasting improvements to their health.

After witnessing the amazing effects of lifestyle coaching on her patients and their families, Dr. Oza decided to expand her service offering by bringing together a team of passionate wellness practitioners to guide her patients through their desired lifestyle changes.

By supporting, educating and engaging patients in their own healing process, the Mindful Medicine team's goal is to enable you to make a long-lasting impact on your own health.
